Local Residents Choose Favorites

Votes are in and tallied up for this year’s Reader’s Choice survey.

Logansport residents sent in or dropped votes throughout the month of November for their 113 favorite things during the recent survey held by the Pharos-Tribune.

This year’s Reader’s Choice contest was a positive for the community and those who received votes, said Chris Anderson, advertising director of the Pharos-Tribune.

“It gives the people voted for a validation that they are doing good,” said Anderson. “It also allows people to have a voice for their favorites in Cass County.”

The Pharos-Tribune has held the Reader’s Choice contest several times and most recently in 2003. Anderson said the paper does not conduct the contest annually to prevent it from becoming stale.

This year several local businesses received votes in more than one category.

Minglin Jewelers, located at 604 E. Broadway, was voted as favorite jeweler and favorite locally owned business.

Owners Bill and Angela Minglin have been in the jewelry business for about 25 years and will celebrate their 12th year of business in Logansport in February.

“Its a big honor to know that the people you serve in the local community think that you are the best at what you do,” said Bill. “Of course you always try to keep your customers as much as you can and they must think we are doing good at it.”

This is the second time Minglin Jewelers has received the most votes for favorite locally owned business, said Bill. However, that doesn’t make it any less of an honor to the Minglins.

Bill credits the success in the community to the business’s customer service.

“We try to treat our customers the way we would want to be treated ourselves,” said Bill. “We also do the servicing at our store where as some other stores do not do that.”
